My name is Thérèse Bay; I am the instructor and I run this club. I have owned and trained dogs for most of my life and i am now 35 (what 35?? No that can't be? sigh!) - my parents have often told me that one of the first living things to give me a 'wet kiss' as a baby would have been a German Pointer - My dad's family owned working German Pointers. Since childhood I have always had a strong bond and relationship with dogs and have ultimately grown up with working Pointers and Golden Retrievers - friends of the family can affectionately remember myself as a 2-3year old taking one of their Dalmation puppies and going to bed - where they ultimately found us fast asleep, me with one arm around the pup and the puppy snoring loudly! As a family we owned Golden Retrievers and later in life when I met my other half (better?!) who was a dog 'virgin' we decided as a couple (not so sure David would agree) that we 'needed' a dog to join our family - we ended up with Merlin a lab x pointer - unfortunately we visited a not so well reputable rescue (didn't realise at the time) not as honest as we would've liked and ultimately we ended up with a dog that wanted to kill or mame anything running around. This was a very upsetting and difficult time for us! We lost Merlin in August 2005. We had now also got another little rescue dog, Jessie, a lovely little English Springer Spaniel 'runt' who was described as nervous and neurotic; as I love a challenge we took her home and she finally became a completely different dog but needed A LOT OF PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING!! She had been kicked about a lot as a puppy this was obvious and would wet herself on the spot if she heard loud voices or strangers at the door! We lost this lovely little dog to kidney failure March 2007 - we were devastated. After loosing Merlin we knew we needed a companion for Jessie, this resulted in Chester from the Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre - a fantastic rescue and Chester caused quite a stir! There were 20 famillies in line waiting to meet Chester - we had turned up bright and early to see him and ultimately were allowed to take him (after usual home checks etc) apparently we were the best family for Chester and we felt very honoured! He has turned out be a FANTASTIC dog! (And has now August 2008 just passed his Gold in Good Citizen Dog Scheme and has also been accepted as a PAT - Pets As Therapy Dog- Very Proud - Visiting residents at Cranmer Court, Warlingham!!) When we lost Jessie, Chester started to 'die' he didn't eat, didn't want to go out so we knew VERY quickly that we needed a friend for Chester - this resulted in Lizzy - Lizzy is a little Collie x (possibly Kelpie) and she is wonderful! Full of beans and is a complete Collie at heart, collie mind, collie energy, collie intelligence. She has one of the best natures I have ever come across in a dog and knows how to behave around any dog or puppy. She is just brilliant!! I currently work her in both obedience and agility. I am also currently studying Dog Psychology (I hope to complete this in the next month and will be showing off my diplomas on this website!) which is the result of my many rescue dogs and the desire to be the best at solving unwanted dog behaviours and dog issues - to be fair to the dogs most of these stem from behaviours we as owners have portrayed or we have not given our dogs boundaries.//I am very proud to say that I have passed my canine psychology course and with flying colours I might add!! I achieved Distinction, A with 88% as my end result - I am very happy and my diploma can be seen to the right - 24/2/09// I have trained and helped several owners on a one 2 one behaviour and Training Sessions, with their dogs including most recently a lovely Saluki x who belongs to a very good friend of mine and a German Shepherd. I currently have 15 dogs in classes who I train on a weekly basis. I live, sleep and eat dogs....that didn't sound right?! Basically I spend all of my spare time with dogs and David of course - who is most understanding - I am very lucky!! If you wish to contact me in regards to any class availability please visit the contact us page. Look forward to meeting you and your dog(s), Best Regards, Thérèse Bay dip.dog.psy
